How to paint carrion like Joel

From Meijer etc.

Rust-oleum Painter's Touch Satin Ivory Silk (Any off white will do I think) This is the primer.

Minwax Polyshades Stain & Polyurethane Antique Walnut Satin. This is the wash.

Krylon Matte Finish Sealer (I actually used a 12 year old can of Armory mat sealer).

Citadel: Skull White, Chaos Black, Ruby Red, Goblin Green.

  1. Prime
  2. Paint feathers chaos black.
  3. Paint 'tendons' ruby red.
  4. Hit missed feathers with black.
  5. Shake and stir well wash. It settles a lot. Normally you would not want to shake a poly but since air bubbles are not going to affect your final finish no worries.
  6. Dip in and shake well. You will need to hold onto the base so either wear a glove or be ready to get stain on your prissy little fingers. You might think the model will fall off the base. It won't if you glued well.
  7. Let dry for 2 days.
  8. Dry brush skull white to highlight skulls, ribs, beak, claws and alula (wing elbows).
  9. Paint base 2x with goblin green. I used the older hex shaped paint pot goblin green which is a little off from the new bullet goblin green. I guess Citadel is not Glidden when it comes to color consistency.
  10. Thin down some white glue, ~ 1:5 with water. Stir. Apply in spots for the ground/dirt flock. The repeat to the rest of the base top and apply green- Woodland scenics T49 Blended Turf.
  11. Dot on glue to add sticks, pebbles, rocks, planks, other bones, etc.
  12. Spray 2 coats with matte finish sealer. Krylon from Walmart. Let dry for 8 hours before storing.
